Chris L. Brown is a seasoned Development and Alumni Relations professional.  He joined the State University of New York at New Paltz as the Director of Alumni Relations in April 2021.  Brown is responsible for strategically engaging the college’s 65,000 alumni network that spans the United States and abroad.  Prior to joining the SUNY New Paltz staff, he served as the Director of Development at Martin Luther School, Maspeth, New York, and St. John’s Lutheran School, College Point, New York. 

Brown’s extensive leadership experience extends to the corporate finance industry, where he served as an Assistant Vice President at Pershing in Jersey City, New Jersey, Trading Operations Manager at The Prudential Insurance Company of America in Newark, New Jersey, and Assistant Treasurer at the Chase Manhattan Corporation in New York, New York. 

Brown is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He is a past President of the Queens, NY Alumni Chapter.  Brown currently serves on the boards of the Lutheran Counseling Center of New York and the Center of Urban Education Ministries.  He is a member of the Queens (NY) General Assembly and the African American Development Officers Network.  Brown earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from SUNY New Paltz.
