Scholarship in Early Childhood, Elementary or Secondary Education

The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate or alumni members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. who attend an accredited four (4) year degree or postgraduate (Master or Ph.D.) granting university/college within the state of New York.

Scholarship Award/Amount

Scholarship will be in the amount of $1,000 annually provided funding is available.

Eligibility

This scholarship is based on financial need, academic performance, leadership potential and participation in fraternal initiatives on a local, provincial and/or national level.

Scholarship Qualifications/Criteria:

Candidate for consideration must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Candidate must be a full time student.
Candidate must be a member in good standing at all three levels with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Candidate must attend an accredited four (4) year degree or postgraduate (Master or Ph.D.) granting university/college within the state of New York.
Candidate must be majoring in Early Childhood, Elementary or Secondary Education

Application Process

Candidate must submit answers the following questions:
1) Define the purpose of education?
2) How can an education ensure equitable services for all citizens?
3) What is your educational philosophy?
4) What will receiving this scholarship mean to your academic career?
Students are also required to submit two letters of character reference (one School reference and one Personal reference). The School reference must be from an academic advisor or professor. The Personal reference must be from someone who is not a family member (i.e. clergy, community figure, or mentor).

Awards

Scholarships are awarded and/or renewed annually provided funding is available. Award notifications are sent in October of each year.
