Scholarship

The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. who attend Delaware State University, University of Delaware or Wesley College of Delaware. 

Scholarship Award/Amount

Each scholarship awarded will be in the amount of $1,000 annually.  Scholarships are special one-time based.

Eligibility

This scholarship is based on financial need, academic performance, leadership potential and participation in fraternal initiatives on a local, provincial and/or national level. Scholarships are awarded annually provided funding is available.  

Scholarship Qualifications/Criteria:

  • Candidate for consideration must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. 
  • Candidate must be a full time student (undergraduate students).
  • Candidate must be a member in good standing at all three levels with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
  • Candidate must be an undergraduate member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. who attends Delaware State University, University of Delaware or Wesley College of Delaware. 

Application Process

  • Create an account on the Dream Builders website and login.
  • Candidate must upload a resume.
  • Candidate must obtain and upload Official Transcript.
  • Complete all requirements (i.e. Essay, Resume, etc.) 
  • Essay Topic: 
    Please describe the importance of the five areas below in improving the world in which we live: Youth Education, Youth Leadership, Health and Welfare, Community Involvement, and Economic Empowerment.  (300-350 words)
  • Students are also required to submit two letters of character reference (one School reference and one Personal reference). The School reference must be from an academic advisor or professor. The Personal reference must be from someone who is not a family member (i.e. clergy, community figure, or mentor).
  • Complete the online application and submit.

Awards

Scholarships are awarded and/or renewed annually provided funding is available.  Award notifications are sent in October of each year.
